The territory of the Municipality of Gornji Milanovac lies between western Serbia, Gruza and Pomoravlje in the southwestern part of Sumadija. Gornji Milanovac , with all territory is located between mountains: Rudnik, Suvobor and Maljen. The territory of the Municipality of Gornji Milanovac is located in the Moravica District of the western Serbia.
Gornji Milanovac boundaries with Ljig and Arandjelovac (in the North), Topola and Kragujevac (both in the North-East), Knic and Cacak (in the South-East), Lucani ( in the South West), Pozega, Serbia (in the West).
As the center of the municipality Gornji Milanovac is located at the 44|north attitude and 20 29 in the Eastern latitude, the territory of the Municipality is located between at 43, 56, 44, 16 North and at 20,03 to 20 37 Eastern longitude.
The Municipality of Gornji Milanovac has a good geographic position. The center of the city is situated along western side of European route E763, between the cities Ljig to the north and Cacak to the south and Majdan villages to the north and Preljina to the south.
A new highway A2 (Corridor XI) was built in the West and South side of the municipality. This is the project of priority in the field of transport and tourism in the future, because Gornji Milanovac:”s good geographic position to the coast of Adriatic Sea.
State road 22, known as the Ibar Higway is an IB-class road, goes through the municipality of Gornji Milanovac in the length of 38km. It connects Belgrade with Sumadija and Western Serbia and Montenegro.
The regional road connects Gornji Milanovac with Rudnik, and through Topola with Belgrade.
All settlements of the municipality are connected with local roads for regional roads and the State road 22 (Ibar Highway).
