The plant cover is diverse, with over 600 different plant species. The territory of the Municipality of Gornji Milanovac belongs to vegetative type of greenery and deciduous forests of the moderate zone. Forests occupy a third of the territory. The largest complexes of woods are located in the Rudnik mountain and Suvobor mountain. Oak and beech are common trees, willows are mainly found in the lowlands and maple, birch and coniferous trees in the mountain areas.
Meadows occupy 2 000 hectares of the territory and grassland occupy 14 000 hectares.
A large proportion of the land comprises agricultural areas. These are occupied by crops like plum orchards, cherry orchards, pear orchards, as well as strawberries, raspberries and blackberries. The orchards occupy the third of the arable land.
Rudnik, Jesevac, Vujan, Suvobor mountains are habitats for animals such as: wild boars, roe deer, martens, badgers, etc. Many species such as hares, partridges, pheasants and feathered game live in the higher attitudes. Roe, deer, wild boar and hare are the main breeding species in Takovo and Suvobor hunting ground.
There are numerous fresh water fish species such as: gudgeon, barbell, clan, etc.
